About
I've been exploring the outdoors since I was a child. My whole life, I've instinctively turned to the natural world not just for fun and recreation, but also for inspiration and solace. I particularly enjoy sharing the beauty and wisdom of nature.

For 24 years I had the good fortune to be the editor of the newsletter of the Valley Forge Audubon Society and was invited to write articles for the American Horticultural Society's American Gardener magazine. Since 1999 I've enjoyed writing a weekly garden column for the regional newspapers in the Greater Philadelphia, PA area, sharing tips, techniques, and innovations, visiting local backyard growers, encouraging environmental stewardship, and building a network of gardeners.

When I'm not out in my garden or writing, I love playing cello—performing and teaching. I also enjoy exploring our national parks, hiking, and cooking with the vegetables that come out of my organic garden in southeastern Pennsylvania, where I live with my husband Charlie.
